Ulvik is probably most famous for its fruit and cider farms.The Hardanger Fjord area is known as the fruit orchard of Norway. Nowhere on the world is it possible to grow fruit on this latitude (about 60 degrees north). The mild climate in the Hardanger region, the protective geography from the elements and the long summer days add up to an ideal location for fruit farming.  We take you along the cider route and stop by these family run cider farms where you can experience the pride and legacy, which the owners have put in their products for generations. Every cider farm has its unique specialty and approach to processing fruit and food. And we might just have a tasting sample on the way. FJORD BOAT FULL DAY EXCURSION

GUIDED KAYAK ULVIK

Recreational and educational kayak trip on the fjord of Ulvik with an experienced instructor and guide. Not only will you enjoy the fun and sportive kayaking experience, but you will also get to learn some basic skills for surviving in nature, and learn about the fascinating local culture and history. After the initial instruction, we will paddle to an island on the fjord, where you will learn to make fire, identify edible plants and, if weather conditions permit, help set up a makeshift shelter. Then we paddle to a peninsula where we go ashore. You will learn how people lived and survived in the old days and how they used nature. Our guide will talk about local traditions, and, tell some amazing stories about historical events that took place in this little paradise. GUIDED NATURE WALK ULVIK

HARDANGERVIDDA NATIONAL PARK EXCURSION

The pride of the region is at our doorstep. The Hardangervidda mountain plateau is just around the corner. We bring you by car to some of the highlights that this National park offers. First we stop at the Hardangervidda Natursenter for a unique and very entertaining presentation of Hardanger vidda. Then we visit one of Norway’s most famous waterfalls, ‘Vøringfossen’ where water plunges a staggering 182 meters down in the Måbødalen valley. Further up the road you will get an unforgettable experience of life on the mountain plateau while we do a short trekking through this rough deserted terrain. OSA FJELLE & TUNNEL TUR

Excursion with a guide to the roughest part of Hardangervidda. Spectacular journey through Austdalen, with breath-taking views and waterfalls to “Langevatn” a reservoir lake at alt. 1,200m, with a view on Hardanger Jøkulen, a large glacier. The guide tells the fascinating history of 100 years of "energy" in Osa. On the way back down, we visit the breathtaking waterfall “Roykafossen. Then we go to the historic, 100y old "Kafeen" for a pancake lunch. After lunch the tour continues to the tunnels of Osa. A historical view on the epic plan to turn Osa into a city for 6,000 people, develop a railway and metal industry. A telling of the extraordinary story of Fossekompani, who, in 1912, started the construction of a hydroelectric power plant. In the roughest area of Hardangervidda, under harsh conditions, many kilometers of tunnels were constructed, including a vertical shaft of nearly 1 km inside the mountain. After bankruptcy in 1923, the project was halted, and then resumed during WW II under German occupation, but abandoned again within 2 years. Ultimately, none of the many projects were completed. Experience the extraordinary story of likely the largest industrial archaeological site in Norway. PANORAMA TUNNEL IN THE MOUNTAINS

This is truly a trip to look forward to! The tour is guided and consists of a hike in unspoiled mountains and off - track. We descend in a 100-meter vertical (50˚) shaft and walk through a tunnel to an opening in the mountain wall 800 meters above the ground! After this exciting experience we head for Austdalshytte (our mountain cabin). Along the way to the cabin, if so wished, we can do some easy climbing. Details - No experience needed for rappelling in tunnel shaft ( ca 52 degrees). TROLLTUNGA GUIDED HIKE

A Norwegian “must do”! The trip starts by driving you along the beautiful Hardanger Fjord. Along the way you will cross Europe’s largest suspension bridge and see many fruit farms. From Tyssedal we start the hike to one of the world’s most famous attractions “Trolltunga”. Lace your boots tightly and bring your camera! Our experienced guide will take you to the Trolltunga cliff at 1100 meters altitude. The view will take your breath away while you are standing on a small piece of rock 700 meters above Ringedalsvatnet lake. The trail is 11 kilometers long and goes through steep forest terrain, moon-like flatlands, marshes, snowfields and a rocky mountain trail. This is Norway at its best! During the hike, the guide will show and demonstrate many survival/bushcraft skills, and will prepare for you a nice herb tea in the field.
